Description
First Vice President of Mortgage Underwriting
Agility 360 is looking for a qualified, knowledgeable and highly skilled candidate to fill the position of FVP of Mortgage Underwriting. Responsibilities include: oversight and direction of the underwriting distribution via management and oversight for Retail underwriting departments. The successful candidate will be working with the EVP of National Credit Operations Credit Risk to support the credit escalations and interpretations for the retail channel.
JOB DUTIES
- Maintains a working knowledge of new government regulations and real estate laws, in addition to all company products, systems, operational procedures and policies. Stays up-to-date with any policy changes within the company.
- Serve as a Direct Escalation point for Ops, Sales and Underwriting
- Responds to post closing purchase deficiencies within company set standards.
- Ensures that the Underwriting Department performs to company set standard productivity and customer service levels.
- Oversees new and ongoing training for department underwriters, and leads staff meetings to communicate industry and company changes in order to maintain team unity and comprehension.
- Performs second Underwriter reviews as part of the Credit Authority Process.
- Performs second reviews for government loans recommended for denial as part of the regulatory process.
- Works in conjunction with Director of Credit Risk to ensure proper knowledge of all relative compliance topics, monitor activities and report issues.
KNOWLEDGE AREAS:
- Familiar with Jumbo loans & guidelines
- Front-line underwriting experience a must and retail knowledge is preferred (experience working with Loan Officers)
- Recent experience managing disseminated underwriting groups/teams, preferably on a National Level
- Demonstrated ability to interpret guidelines and make decisions based on these interpretations
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ Years of underwriting experience required
- Experience in managing underwriters
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- College Degree preferred
- VA/LAPP & FHA DE preferred
POSITION DETAILS:
- Ability to work in a matrix hierarchy between Ops and Credit
- Coordinates productivity and other metric measurements with the Regional Operations Managers and Underwriting Department.
